Minor Poll Blip

If you looked at my blog earlier, for a brief time you might have seen the alleged results of the latest poll. That was my goof. My new polling widget doesn't automatically close the poll at a specified time. For some reason I thought tonight was the night I said I was going to close it, but it's tomorrow. So I closed it and posted the results. After I realized my mistake, I reopened the poll and removed the results.

Oh well.

I won't be posting anything else tonight. My evil wife brought home a recently published book from the library that I was planning to buy after it came out in paperback. And I'm anxious to get back to it.

If I were writing (or reading) a "Groundhog Day" style story without lemon bits, I think it might be interesting to force Nabiki to live through Ranma's and Akane's attempted wedding, over and over and over again. With it dissolving into disaster in as many different ways as possible, even when she herself actively conspires to keep all of the crazies ignorant. And she'd be informed by some kami just before the first repetition - or maybe after a couple of dozen - that she can't break out of the loop until she figures out some way for the wedding to be carried off successfully. I can just picture Nabiki going crazy as she tries to do something good for once in her life, and can't figure out a way to keep other people from screwing it up, again and again and again.

My poll!

Ahhh! My poll! What happened to my poll!?

As best I can remember, female-Ranma was around 60%, Akane around 45-50%, Kasumi and Nabiki close to Akane, with Nodoka only a little behind, then Shampoo, Kodachi and Hinako well behind those (in that order?), and finally Ukyo and Akari trailing in last place.

Drat. Dang. Blast. Grrr.
Sigh.

Chapter 29 Up

Chapter 29 was posted a little over an hour ago. I'm fairly happy with it, although I feel a bit like the end of the chapter was, sort of, like I said "I'm going to stop now". In other words, kind of bland, like I just chopped it off at that point.

One thing I definitely feel is that there's a lot more plot, and a lot less sex, at the moment. I need to try to change that, or at least balance it a little more. I think it may be a continuing side effect of my meds. At least I feel more willing to write now, then I felt at one point. But the parts with the heavy breathing still don't seem to be doing quite as much for me as they did back when I started writing this. Ah well, I intend to keep going so long as I have any interest in it at all. I just hope I can last long enough to give the story the resolution I have in mind.

Since it came up in an email someone sent me, I want to remind people that this site seems to require acceptance of third party cookies be turned on in order to post comments. Or at least it did at one time, so I assume that was the source of his problem adding a comment.

Any special requests for indignities / embarrassments Ranma should experience while attending school as a girl?

MV 29 Progress

For some reason, Google Chrome is really misbehaving trying to make this post. It crashed a couple of times. Finally switched to Firefox.

In any case, I wanted to report that I've made some good progress on chapter 29 of Moxibustion Violation. I've finished the scene on New Year's morning between Ryoga and Kodachi. Although I don't want to make any promises, I've got a reasonable hope of posting the chapter by the end of the coming weekend. I've got my fingers crossed, anyway.

I tried reading The Dragons of Spirit and Love on FFnet, and just couldn't. It reinforces something I've already realized. When it comes to a story which is clearly erotica/porn, I find rape and other coerced sex an exciting, arousing element of the story. Because I see the entire story as fantasy, and don't get as "involved" as I do in non-erotic stories. In those other types of stories, where I want to suspend disbelief and get "into" the story, I don't like to have something ugly and dark like rape occur. It's a bit of a bipolar attitude I suppose.

Story Hidden on AFFnet

My story Moxibustion Violation has been hidden on AFFnet, apparently because I added reviews in response to readers' reviews asking when I would update, to let them know I was still working on the story. The thing that bugs me, though, is that in telling me they were doing so they claimed that they sent me a previous notice on Jan 11 and they only took this action since I did nothing in response. The problem is that I didn't receive any previous notice. I've checked my email archive, and my message box on AFFnet itself. So as I said, I'm a bit miffed.

In any case, I've deleted those review entries, and replied to their notification. So hopefully the story will reappear on that site soon.

As far as additional chapters - er, sorry. Been busy. First with the holidays. More recently, a lot of my weekend free time has been taken up watching the football playoffs. I'll try to get back to it soon. Honest.

Comments and Cookies

Something unfortunate that I've learned about blogspot. If you have your browser set to prevent third party cookies, you may not be able to leave comments. Which isn't to say you definitely won't. But if you have trouble leaving a comment to one of my posts, and you're willing, you might try enabling third party cookies for the duration of creating the comment. That's what I'm doing. Damned silly nonsense, if you ask me.
